Cinedrome in association with the SOSeth is proud to present its first screening of a Bollywood film in Zurich and Basel,
which is hopefully only the first in a series of Bollywood movie events.
Released on December 20 in India, Saathiya is one of 2002's more successful Bollywood films. It is a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Alaypayuthey and stars the beautiful Rani Mukherjee and successful newcomer Vivek Oberoi. Saathiya tells the story of Aditya and his wife Suhani, who, despite their different social backgrounds, get married against the will of their parents. While most Bollywood fairy tale love stories end with a spectacular wedding, this films takes a new look at marital life showcasing its ups and downs. Debut director Shaad Ali manages to do this with the same escapist flair and deeply touching vibrancy that characterize the tradition of Indian cinema. Saathiya has all the right ingredients of a sucessful Bollywood film including spectacular song sequences and great music by A.R. Rahman (Lagaan, Bombay Dreams), one of India's leading music directors.
